Staff Recognition

Marc Alter, Grandview Heights Schools’ Director of 21st Century Learning, was honored at the Battelle for Kids 2016 Educators Connect for Success Conference held on June 14, 2016, at The Ohio State University Student Union.

The conference highlighted ways educators can make connections among students, schools, and their communities and focus on placing students at the center of their learning. The Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator Award is given each year to a group of educators who have had a powerful impact on students, colleagues, and their community.

The following testimonial was shared by Grandview Heights Schools:

Marc Alter is the embodiment of life-long learning, educational innovation, creativity, and thinking outside the box. He understands best practices and what it looks like in the classroom and with students. But his gift is how he connects with staff to instill trust and confidence and vulnerability to take risks without fear of failing. He does this collaboratively and what appears, on the outside, to be effortless. He is a master teacher who makes everyone around him better. Furthermore, as evidence of his humility, he would be the last person that would ever want to get this award but rather would passionately advocate for a plethora of other teachers. Marc is a great educator and person.
