On October 25th, 2016, Grandview Heights High School hosted their first Building Level Team Meeting. This video is a presentation that followed a building tour led by District administration and building staff.

and I wanted to get you know it's it's not just me talking but I wanted to move the where I could see on unfree shortness try to convey to you how I staffed comprehensive  about the current facilities Huron High School once I believe in my current classroom learning space allows me to design and execute 21st century lessons again we're thinking about communication clabber Asian critical creativity and 88% of our staff said no or second question how does your current classroom space allow for you to design and execute those 20% real Essence 96% of our staff said fifty percent such a pretty pretty strong messages from data standpoint and charms of the stash perception of 21st Century Learning I'll takes place in the classroom under space this morning here by my schedule  sure let's give building assessment and then an educational 21st Century Learning assessment full of the essential question of why are we here and we are here because of deferred maintenance in Capital Improvements we are here because of the furred mate the capital of Burundi assessment that was done by Kevin Harrison HP group of every inch of all of our buildings throughout the district did that there's 44 million dollars estimated in deferred maintenance and capitals why we're here  Chad play the last community-wide facility meeting that we had Kevin shared the facility assessment questions went through it by building  top educated all of us on how that was calculated what it meant the dad is an accurate reliable comprehensive for trail of are deferred made in capital Improvement and that's why we're here what we are doing tonight and what we have planned for tonight is to Pivot  off of the Deferred maintenance and cap improvements to thinking about how space and Form and Function support tomorrow's or  Call 21st Century Learning Cannon if the form and function of space is more adaptable flexible collaborative in order to accomplish those things matches tomorrow's learner but tomorrow's teacher as well as meeting the needs of this community for tomorrow so we're pivoting off of the Deferred maintenance conversation to 21st Century Learning and the reason that we're doing it is because well first of all I feel strongly about this and I what passionately about it but also there are some cost benefit analysis is if this process yields that we are going to do something and it Biddeford Maine is in capital of provement challenge that we face which is why we're here there are some things that we can do go to address our hopes and dreams relative to 21st Century Learning in space and Form and Function why we are renovating stop it so the reason that we're pivoting and having this conversation with the goal of trying to build Collective efficacy and understanding around what does this 21st century learning mean it's because if we're going to address the magazine Capital Improvement we also would like to  plan for the future plan for tomorrow's Learners tomorrow's teachers and the needs of this community long-term not yesterday Shaheen important to be aware of that also this presentation I'm going to go through quick is posted online and Edison Larson presentation virtual tour and then tonight so if I skip slides and you want to go do a deeper dive it will be there so these are the outcomes for today I'm going to go through that quick is ICS here  John Evans here thank you John here earlier and so I feel like there was one other anyway thank you for your service to the community by the way I know how busy you are and one other thing I would say that I said this before but I want to say it again you know the easy thing to do easy thing to do I mean in this board in the facility task force to bury our heads in the sand and ignore this reality that the right thing to do the right you and I know not where it will land the right thing to do is to have a conversation collaboratively about the reality of our situation we may have very news  about what the solution is but I hope we're United in the fact that this needs to be dressed I hope we're United in fact again we may have about what the solution is and hopefully we will be able to build consensus around 8 solution Winchester on a solution I don't know what it is but we can't continue to Kick the Can down the road hello this is redundant so I've said my talking points I'm going to turn it going tomorrow so Mark is our director of 21st Century Learning  really that is this time it's so this is perfectly in his wheelhouse so I'm going to ask her to give an abbreviated presentation but again we're pivoting away from Maine to Capital crew Vincent riding trying to build Collective she understanding about what does this mean and why is it important  Club how do you time thank you to those of you who've been to this presentation before I'm going to try to mix it up a little bit because I know somebody you've heard this but I'm also going to try to nap skip over some important points 21st Century Learning we talked about 21st century learning education just very quickly shout out what you think that means Kumbaya collaboration challenges what's a raccoon learning technology perspective problem problem by right across curriculum to disintegrate eBay immediately take computer to technology so we've been in the 21st century for a while so we kind of gotten over all that we're more focused on when I came to the district my job was to help t integrate technology into the teaching in to do tech support but that's almost becoming obsolete position because technology is ingrained in and how your children how we all work so Technologies part of this but I'm doing this without the benefit of my colleague doctor Lusher she and I have this great duet that we do but you're my best friend so we just saw to be valuable to talk about what's meant by 21st century and sometimes I'll see if Britain is 21 C she really can break it down to three things that are relevant to the discussion of facilities and I will go through these very quickly but you have the component of 20% real Earnest wish the children who come to his everyday we're preparing them for Sunday that we're also very interested in who comes to our door everyday what's the world that they come from 20% change Learners also is teachers and administration it's all of us so the 21st century teaching practices it's kind of a silly term you know because we're kind of tying into a century but at least we have your 84 years to get it right but 20% tree actresses is the time to work with how students function out in the world and the skills that they're going to need as they graduate we don't know if citrine half because some of them have not been invented my own children I have children who are 22 and 25 years old 44 in into a totally different world can we have now the internet on yet we hit beepers and cell phones for this pic so we don't know what our kids are going to have down the road but what we do know is what the skills are 21st Century Learning space than what we're going to talk about is what kind of space are learner's coming so I can forgive me if I zip through this and if you questions please let me know 21st century skills is a lot of different versions of them by generally is agreement that communication collaboration critical thinking and creativity are for essential interlocking overlapping still that everybody think of what you do in your work and think of how these for skills served the work that you do how that fits Pier One  Call communication that simply means opportunities to share thought sharing Clark and sharing ideas and show Solutions now you might say before the 21st century we did communicate in your correct so nothing has changed address for the pics the opportunities that mean create children to me just parties their learning collaboration working together to reach a common goal or a learning golf putting Talent expertise and knowledge together so the sum is greater than its parts collaboration can me and you'll we could all be collaborating and out of project in this room I we could every small groups could also think of how flab eration functions in our society with technology in the tools we have available if I email somebody around the I should be glad reading with him so we're pulling in expertise from Oliver collaboration is a huge skill that students need in order to to learn so we try to create opportunities for that critical thinking when you have knowledge you can be filled with knowledge you can fill out your iPhone get get information how you apply that information how do you sort through that information how you evaluate that information how you critically look at that information is can creativity and this is in my mind creativity assorted the gateway to all the other skills because creativity is going to look at problems in many different ways to intervene in to invent cast of the four seas we also have in Grandview West we have identified his learning attribute so you might think of these as the soft skills that support applications of foreseeability I'm not going to describe each as we go through but accountability after the honesty perseverance communication collaboration which also happened to be the four C's resourcefulness respectfulness and safety and I wanted to chime in for those muted intended our community-wide meeting one of the foundation researchers I use to reference was a guy by the name of Tony Wagner who wrote the book creating innovators and the global a and one of the foundational premises that he believes is that there is a shift between a knowledge economy and Innovation economy is that no longer do people care what you know but they care what you can do for it Innovation economy skills  and learning attributes are becoming more critical not less critical so how does format function in the way in which we deliver content and provide learning opportunities for our students J&J out change and how does format suck that that's the pivot away from deferred maintenance in capital Improvement to 21st Century Learning there's a little charge of the put together that just shows how the four C's in those learning attributes that together you notice it's not linear I would prefer that this is animated where everything's kind of they're all in orbit around each other because they all fit together and some point support each other I'm just curious just show up in any of the force there any of the learning attributes is there anything in there that relates to your work your career for your interest what's up you're not free my kids to have the opportunity to not go to school and then Sunday go out to fly the skill which is more like Iris how much older than a lot of you most of you all of me so if it still really hasn't changed that much for us but again our kids have born in two totally different where they are scalp inflammation and stimulus feedback coming in at all times removed from the job okay because of a lack of what you say look at these skills right here  McIntyre's so simply put that is why these things matter this is why you lose a job because of a knowledge of Khan it's about the skills it's about your ability to work together with other people you have to collaborate to get in the dirt and work together towards a common purpose that's another reason why it matters in the classroom and that's why we're so Unapologetic about importance of that I'm going to try it on that great point so something I am not proud of this by any stretch but I always believed kids matter most and so sometimes you have to have rooms with teachers who aren't getting it done who and you know you got it you got to move on down the road it just isn't going to work out can every single instance it never was about their intellect or their knowledge  adverb pause in every instance in every instance it was about there up there the beer in their ability to Foster meeting for relationship with students their inability to collaborate successfully with others of a parent instance  same am I experience every time every time I think this just illustrates this isn't like somebody case something in a Min magically flip the switch in the 21st century came and we're doing things differently this is just good teaching it's good life experience okay good education and you probably all have experienced some of this at some point in your life either through school more likely if you're in college mentorship self it's just not like somebody just pulled this out of a hat ardor how did they learn what are their expectations of us what are their expectations of access to knowledge their expectations being able to work together and learn from each other so that's the now what we are also focused time it is a portrait of a graduate what kind of student what kind of learner do we want to prepare to go out and the world again keeping in mind we don't know all of the jobs are going to need we don't know that if Microsoft Word right now is the program to use we don't know you might have you something different it better now challenges to be analytical to take risks  to know what they need to be prepared to do what is a very importantly you know how to advocate for themselves as Learners so smart when you go back beside fact that 21st century skills slide so so did these skills matter 20-30 years ago  in the workplace we don't know the jobs that are going to be out there but I'll bet you everything I own in 20 or 30 years from now the same skills will be the same things that give people hire or fire and so while we don't how the jobs they're going to be there and we're learning that is they evolved over time  that shelf life is going to be there you can back home we talked about 21st century teaching or pedagogy or styles of teaching quite often we will have problem-based for project-based learning so instead of giving students to everybody the same thing to do we might resent them with a problem collaboration is a very strong part of an opportunity to design and create something from nothing I'm going to give you an example I'm sorry I'm sure this at the other meeting but a few weeks ago we realized that we are very short-handed with tech support in this building so we threw the problem out to some students doing all call for anybody interested in just getting any say we need kids to help with tech support he said this is the problem we're trying to fix we have eight students who came in with better ideas and I could ever come up with that anybody on my team to come up with because they know Shirley customers they know their school they know the needs they also I would dare say in some areas of Technology no more than some of us just some of their ideas to well it's already up and running so you'll see signs around the right over there the check came through the QR codes that sends a help ticket directly to our check department they work with mr. Pettit the technology to sort through what kids can do and what he can do either one emphasized it's not it's not slave labor either it's a learning experience so we're not just giving the jobs we're letting them solve problems they said an office up across the hall one of them decided that they want to be there person people come in our we have a lot of issues with Chromebooks shouldn't see it that way are Chromebooks needed do you want to computer to personally help with that one of the kids we have a little Raspberry Pi computer he set it up as a help desk they realized it a lot of people don't know about they call themselves about tech team that not everybody knew about them so they decided they need to Market themselves better and in different ways 93 weeks it's really taken on a life of its own and I have to emphasize that when we're giving them the opportunity to design it's not like we 10 ways to say you know your free range you're on your own and and we're not responsible for you we actually will keep trying to raise the bar for the kids Beach of the children who are involved in that right now had very unique different interests and skill levels and technology in fact one of them is there cuz he knows nothing about technology but he wants to learn more so that certainly does not take the place of a class and it's not their only learning experience but I think which really the most important thing about they were presented with a problem that's relevant to them in their school today that they can immediately impact and that's just one actually you just starting to community service so like I don't understand how to use Excel can you help me I'm not really interesting the another function of Google docs while I'm doing essay revisions with my teacher at 8 p.m. on Thursday tonight either so quick to make Christian questions and I want to see this opportunity because I think this is tunity for I saw me included is what you're saying is true for tomorrow's Learners to head we draw on her homeschooling experiences as if that's how it should be for tomorrow learn not tomorrow's learning opportunities for tomorrow's learner and what Hallett how we can support them in that and so I will share with you you all know what I do for a living so I have to Risa Michelle and my pipe my kids Full Stringer to a neighboring district and they each got a Mac profile and my seventh grade or 6th grader but I am beyond Blown Away by the way in which he uses that in as a tool to collaborate and to learn differently and he couldn't I hate to say that he knows more than Mark he knows more than you knows more than me and it's and I think we sell them short we were trying to teach them in learning environments and teach them in the same way okay and your point about community and our guilty Public Service I think it's an excellent point because Dad is something else where they can have direct immediate impact on there Community we have a student is very interested in addressing food insecurity and nutrition so you know there's a lot of ways you could do a food drive course she is choosing to do work right within the school so that's an excellent excellent point and then that that can really Branch out to the larger world free weight quickly through these in fact I don't know if even I don't even say anything just let them because it's pretty clear what did I say this is traditional Learner in this is 21st Century Learning and I'd like you to think of this is not bad this is not automatically good think there's a continuum so beautifully that sometimes sit and get it's the appropriate up here learning to do something you may have to sit in and be trained and something for you can move in there we are saying it's it's it's either or it's both  example I gave was sit and get when I was teaching my daughter to drive that good strategy experiment was nectar think of your work but I think of that that clip I showed it to our community by meeting most likely to see need an ID you likely won't remember it but I do and the in the teacher says a bad assessment or bad teaching when you hand the multiple-choice test back and the kid looks in his grave walks over and throws it in the trash on the way home because that's knowledge-based assess and so I thought well there you go you want me talk about check how did you I think this is probably most important in telling think of how quickly you get feedback from technology from your phone from your hey do we live in a world where kids need and want extra feedback quickly and we talked about the informative assessment it's not like you to something you're done get a grade it's like you win or you lose you get feedback throughout the whole process which again really imitates like well limit microwave mentality  yeah that's a really good question because we struggle with attention span we struggle with distraction so the strategy is we need to make learning more engaging in deeper Pursuit so that jumping from one thing to the other Turn 5 does not get the results that we would help they get in hopefully not the results of day hope it gets better next one question I'm sorry using the 20% rule is that if you go back one is that construed as a positive on the 21st century learner I would look at that that's what we is teachers need to keep in mind this again that's how our kids are wired when they come in so instant feedback who wrote a paper and three weeks later I get it back to him and I see you know Andy this was not very good feedback is I'm going feedback to should probably be praised biggest Iraq that started in the exam right now I'm telling you right now written assignments on an essay we are going back and forth through Google Docs with that that he back that's very specific to their writings and their and they're making changes in their growing as a result of that quicker that the quicker that feedback comes and learning to whatever the assignment was the more reflective kids are because it's in their brain still it's in their mind what they just did on a deeper level always need to be right away but it does open up some  don't happy happy clap it out and vibration and I were going to go over so I can look in okay just let me know meeting Teletubby run meeting and if it's just something at her number but it's hard to inhale position like great example train exam Okay so facts about 21st Century Learning 525 21st century Learners skills we give you a very very abbreviated version and apologize for that but this all Stu if we are going to educate students for 21st century for Sunday and the skills they need and now that we have the opportunity to look at space is differently if we are to make changes to the building what kind of change is what kind of environments are going to be more conducive then places that were designed for 19th century Learners where the teachers doing exactly what I'm doing right now I'm standing here talking at you another Senator action schools were designed for efficiencies was designed as a training model during the industrial area where the teacher is the five all knowledge sing that information out to stoop suck Andy Christie's remote comes great job great job I think this quote captures what we've been trying to say  succinctly turn the pictures speak a thousand words and  visually represent what we're trying to say much better here's an old picture of an old classroom so we've had an opportunity to go on several site visits so we've been to Mariemont in Wyoming which are in Cincinnati for hybrid renovation new bills we've been to New Albany a brand new Learning Center I would articulate that it is at the tip of the spear in terms of thinking about how Form and Function impact learning bubble the buildings I've been too and I've been to just about any you can imagine in central Ohio we went out we went to Stuart Elementary which was this a flat 1991 renovation which I have some photos Innovation Learning Center flexible chairs but I want to point out even more important access to these white boards that automatically mount an interface with the desk so you can write down and collaborate your thoughts and share out in Chinese Lee he raised and noticed there on the walls here everyday kind of collaboration and that is instantaneous and automatic I noticed that he had cut out old baseboard and he had little sheets on his table at just interesting the creativity and Innovation and he decided to retrofit to try and help with that is it is also interesting is is that in the I'll see that this is a hallway and they had this little Furniture Nook here and and I sat I stood over here and these students were working in a suite of Google Apps and we're collaborating around a common project and giving each other feedback and I was just made that in the hallway this type of learning was happening you know one of the things we talked about preparing to compete in a global Marketplace in about 10 years ago we were having this conversation in the district I was in and finally the super Tennessee you know what here's what we're going to do at the time Limited Brands and just renovated are entire complex and she took us on a tour and I will tell you I had this vision of what Corporate Offices look like and this is one of those just smack in the faces for me in my own learning and I'm sharing it with you I envisioned this office here with a desk and a conference table an office here with the desk at a conference table I Envision a common room with a bunch of cubicles you know cubicle here to be killed that space with the antennas of that it didn't resemble what I just described even remotely in fact this is what it and if there were there if there were gas cuz it was like stand-up desks that end in between the state of death they have a little space this is at Limited Brands by the way so I think it's important also to be mindful of what we're proposing And discussing he isn't all faced with what most corporations look like today from these kids music stand in this kind of environment to which one's the Beast I mean it what do you mean by that make it stop with Abby  trim how does that transition to write cernx Pacific Industrial his previous work but he asked for because he was still figure that's what I just need to remove it and just like that bring your own PC to work stuff cuz you want to pay for having a nice shiny math product but it's not out is there twice the max artist prevalent in the business world just tell you we did not go with Max for students because of coffee just so you know I can relate to that the secretary with between whatever it's not what I meant an office I mean that loving me a joke the after that I'm going anywhere because at the conference table High School environment I guess that's good but you know I think I probably Limited at and I told complex over here Nationwide I would articulate a similar Vision as I just recently talking too much about the device's I am about flexible collaboration station Celebration Day is something you need a new design passport requirements for Blake if we have tons of silly campus all over from acquisition and they are in everybody's looking remote very  can we come together into a meeting room if not the coolant filter quickly going I have an appointment office I have a nice desk and ice desk chair I have a laptop that connects to one of those large screens you're talking about in the last two and a half years Turn 2 years 3 months I would venture to say I have sat at that desk  are you ever seen maybe three three times a week what he's talking about because of what you're saying go to skip but the skills that we've been talking about transferred to all of those things they do one of the things I wanted to point out if he's there can off class face hear a conference room that's semi soundproof so if a group wanted to be in a quiet space they could by the way this is their cafeteria remember how I got it little in passion when we were in the cafeteria this is flexible space that used all day for student bring a collaboration not just at lunch  the game different kind of glasses face at Marysville Early College damn High this is just after it was renovated. This is their cafeteria and what you can't see is right here on this wall is all so there's natural light coming in here notice the varying sizes shapes colors of tables and choices stores in the more Innovative spaces whether it was that the ilc weather is it Wyoming Mariemont for in New Albany was this to fold flexible space what's the classroom here that holds traditionally 32 is Pike 900 square feet this is a wall that is movable right here and so do identical room here with 30 that can house 30 kids however by moving this wall you can have that space become instantaneously accessible to 60 if you wanted you 11-ish garage door in the garage door over on this side and have access to this even larger space here so that the same space can adapt to the utility in need of what you're trying to accomplish  noticed this the lunch here so this is where this is this is a space Acer Media Center Library this is at an intermediate building day at eating lunch and they're talking about the bulk doing a book talk independently after lunch sitting there took a Snapchat cuz I thought it was great which of their classrooms in their in their renovation has a little small conference room and the reason that they do that is as you think stop speech services you think about reading intervention services you think about some other type of services what what happens now can you get to the services gets up out of the class if they remember and if the teacher remember walks down the hall walk down the hall 20 minute letter supposed to get 30 minutes that you hope they do but then they walk back to their class what's nice about it is the speech path traveled to the whatever service is here another thing is I notice is when I'm walking to the Halls at Stevenson Elementary the hallways are full of parent volunteers reading to Kids in the Hall this is where that would happen as opposed to in a home by a small thing but a nice thing good ideas to think about again this is a hallway and it's just where you could do smaller is in the hallway to just I like the art so this is the New Albany K-8 filming any can a couple things I want to point out so classroom right here classroom right here through the garage door here this is a whiteboard with four chairs just so you could sit and Duke of a four-person group could white board ideas to lose small group activity flexible cushion Furniture here  so again I talked to similar in like to the what are the cool things this is this is a flexible space of 30 person classroom 900 square-foot little bigger quite frankly five more like 1100 over here when you close the store this is a whiteboard  so the functionality isn't just increasing the space but when you close that door to White the whole thing is a wife what I thought that was really go ahead not seen that before I visited the other thing I would point out is notice the utility and play faceted Furniture this is a little more motion and I kind of moves this is a little more sturdy but you have choice also these cables are readily flexible  I really like that whiteboard in the store just a different so all these classrooms are around the outside here and then this is kind of their commentary so if they want to do a town hall meeting where they want to do a play or let's say you've been talking about how the national parks can make themselves more appealing to the X generation on the X Generations even old but the entire class could be here and you could resent here and it's all multimedia technology faceted about a whole class discussion small kids learning in the classroom so another pull that like it seems obvious but is often forgotten teaching and learning should shape the building not vice versa  show weather in a lot of talking at you obviously I get passionate about this because I do think it matters I really do at the end of the day though this process in the outcome is bigger than any one person including myself and at the end of the day the community must most wooded values and that's what we should do because the decisions we make today like the decisions that were made 100 years ago but what we're going to be going to school in for the next hundred years whether that's doing nothing or whether that's just renovating or whether that's creating in hey I'm learning spaces those decisions are going to dare I say Outlast certainly me in my lifetime so they are important we have to get it right I think importantly we are hosting a we are hosting and most likely to succeed showing on NR  High School auditorium DJ for me Courtney in it was the last line okay so Monday can I get you a lot of questions about it afterwards or showing the whole movie on December 19th at 6:30 p.m. here and it's it's a really great clip and a lot of times movies are much better than someone standing in presenting and talking to you they really capture the essence of what trying to say when I say things like how Form and Function should hate tomorrow's learn this movie does a much better job of really bringing home that looks like it what that can me so at this point I think you for your participation in closing  there are two sheets at your table there's an exit ticket and then a building sheet that talks about  environment and then 1st Century Learning environment  you do not need to complete these right now and handed to me although if you do that's great but if you don't what I would ask planes  can you do take some time to fill them out and email me  if you want you can bring it in anonymously and put it in my mailbox if you're more comfortable that I get that put it honestly that's not a problem but what is important is that your voice is heard and that would get your feedback good batter and different so a shape or form that I can get it that would be appreciated so at this point any questions that I can answer  any comments about how her grandfather didn't return to 88 Hello Jesse keep up with the latest legislation and what number aside from elevators in Grandview way behind on elevators on Rancho to what I was what happened refer you to is Child by holiday traditions starving what is it in a heartfelt way what I would suggest that you do and in all seriousness of course I would recommend going to an end and I mean this sincerely because this and you may be already done this and so I don't mean in any sort of way other than is intended I would go to Grandview Heights main page on the top priority planning button who regulates schools this will Papa go to the facility planning to see if you see where my cursor is I would click that and honestly when you ask what are we behind on it if I understand how do I go to this facility session and I would spend some time looking assessments play granule they're very detailed they're very comprehensive they're very thorough and it's a deep dive to Sylhet assessment for and I'm not smart enough to be able to regurgitate each of these line items but I would spend some how do you do this in those this assessment will tell you what we're behind on comprehensively and there are lights honestly that would be much better time spent than me trying to articulate what's in there  yes sir 808 we got a score update you are familiar with the size of these other great questions to that is what animal Ohio standard what size average for the average stop average size School District go to the question was you guys give me just one second question was because I think it's a good question my judgment what you're asking pretentiously so he asked because we're smaller school district and we visited all these other school district how to size impact that and I'm going to ask you a couple quick ways number one one of the most important things that I think it impacts us is our debt ceiling  in other words  can a large District like one large is really let's just take Arlington so it is 5800 student District 5 times bigger than Grandview so how does that impact them versus us debt ceiling and I'm making this up but I think I but I think I'm close actually is like 330 million dollar so if they wanted to spend and Bar 330 million dollars to fix up their facilities they could  play music show credits and they're planning on demoing their High School on building a new high school that High School in and of itself cost 140 million dollars just the high school okay last night when I said was 52 million did that is a moving Dynamic ceiling or credit ceiling and that it is actually lowered to 4 2 million hour so I think one of the most important to be full of we can't borrow as much money even if we leave if we wanted to you know go crazy you know if there's a ceiling there where we could  not in one of the things I've learned is because when I saw that figure a debt ceiling of initially 52 million no I was like oh my gosh there's no way you could ever spend that that's what I thought but but but but what I've learned is that could go quick that's just what the experts tell me that isn't what I'm telling you that's what the experts tell me so I think we need to be we need to be mindful of that reality and it's one of the I think most important thing that we compare ourselves to this District or that District Pizza Pizza Financial reality so I think now the other thing I would say is that you know Kenny Kenny answered his question you know I do think that I don't know that this is an opinion I would argue the fact although you're going to say it's an opinion but I would warrant this claim based on my 23 years and then station in working in a variety of school district this is the most private public school experience certainly in the mid Central Ohio Ohio  at one of the reasons that that's true is not .  I would argue also the relationship that teachers form with kids the relationships that teachers have parents that parents have with their kids parents have the teachers it's our values and beliefs it's the opportunity the kids have to do left room co-curricular activities almost in an unfettered way all those are private kinds of things and correspondingly we have small class sizes so in most schools the norm is 2830 kids in a class and in a freshman class at might be 3032 that isn't our reality so I'm being honest next to small in for Grandview I do but  I also think we need to be mindful that are average class size is smaller volitive too many other districts it doesn't change in my judgment to need but I think it's an important thing that we need to be honest and transparent about address someone doesn't mean I can point to Art and art foundations will we have 32 34 section and you that is the squaring blowing example with the reality of it is we do have a continue and that said the bulk of our classrooms are used 2014  kids in a classroom space thought your your stinking face is never going to grow up well well that's an interesting thing to things to that we're up students this year 45 it's this year compared to last year picture thing to do enrollment projections for the next 15 to 20 and these folks are experts down to like you know one 1% margin of error in the next 15 years because I do think that the responsible thing to do is to look at that we got a lot of at least my perception positive Synergy and Grandview marble Cliff Grandview yard School restrict and I do think that knows this isn't new myelitis is an overly excitable desirable place to live and I do think I do think that if you can afford it and have kids it is a great place to send your kids to school and to raise a family I mean one of them the most Optimum places that I can think of no quite Shannon 40 a year  so you sleep where you left them  class sizes were about a hundred percent play what is clear from our facility assessment that was presented in her opening night is is that there is a capacity for additional student in our existing space  passing it's already been there is capacity as I stand here before you today to absorb or take on more students already happened in the past what sort of like 400 kids has peacefully coexist in the semester.
