Making A Promise

On September 3, Grandview Heights students in grades 4 - 12 had the privilege of listening to a young man named Alex Sheen.  Sheen, of Cleveland, Ohio, presented a fantastic talk entitled “because I said I would”.

His message is all about doing what you say you’re going to do. Sheen is trying hard to get this message out to middle and high school students.  With the help of School Board Member, Stephanie Evans, Sheen was willing and able to visit Grandview Heights High School and Edison Intermediate/Larry Larson Middle School and speak.

At the conclusion of his talk every student and staff member received 10 business size cards that have the one line message written on them, “because I said I would”. The purpose of each card is for one to write a short promise out and then fulfill this promise, “because I said I would”.    It was a great message to be heard by people of every age and certainly a message that one could carry with them throughout their life.  Students did an amazing job listening to Sheen and were a most respectful and kind audience.
