Author Visit

Author and photographer David Fitzsimmons will visit Stevenson Elementary on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.   FitzSimmons non-fiction picture books, Curious Critters, have won five national book awards and was a 2011 ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Awards finalist.  His accolades include:

  • 2012 IBPA Bill Fisher Award for Best First Book (Children's/Young Adult)
  • 2012 Nautilus Silver Book Award (Children’s Nonfiction, Grades 1-6)
  • 2011 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, Silver (Non-Fiction - Picture Book)
  • 2012 Skipping Stones Honor Award (Nature and Ecology Books)
  • 2012 PubWest Book Design Awards, Bronze (Children's/YA Illustrated)

The Sigma Pro photographer founded FitzSimmons Photography 17 years ago--committing to artistic integrity and environmental conservation.  Over the past two decades, his work, ranging from landscapes and wildlife to weddings and commercial photography, has reached an estimated five million viewers. FitzSimmons travels across North America presenting programs, seminars, and small-group workshops. Publications include articles with Popular Photography and Shutterbug, calendars with industry-leaders BrownTrout and Barnes & Noble, and several upcoming books.
