7th and 8th Grade Girls who were part of the Middle School Girls Soccer team in the Fall are asked to meet briefly with Coach Becky and Coach Misti in the Middle School Commons today after school.
Attention 4th, 5th, and 6th graders: Our next Bobcat Bash is coming up January 25 from 6:15-9:15PM. Come enjoy pizza, games, movies, and more! Go to the PTO website to register.
This month’s Ohio Days menu will be served on Tuesday, January 22. We’re serving cheese calzones that are produced by Conagra in Troy, roasted butternut squash and Fuji apples from Mt. Vernon’s Yellowbird Food Shed, and milk from Smith’s Dairy in Reynoldsburg.
OWL Camp application forms are due January 31. Make sure you’re following the checklist!
Yearbook Group pictures will take place on Thursday, January 24, 8:10-10AM. Please listen for your club or organization to be called.
The 2018-2019 School Yearbook Sale begins next week! Order forms will go home with you today. Yearbooks are $17 each. The order deadline is Friday, February 1!
And remember, there is no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Report cards for the second nine weeks of the 2018-2019 school year are available 1/18. Grades 4 and 5 are printed and will go home with students. Secondary addresses are mailed. BRAIN BLAST 2019
Attention 4th and 5th Grade parents: Is your child a budding scientist? Do they love to ask the question “Why?” Their interests and curiosities can be showcased at the 2019 Brain Blast on Thursday, March 7, 6-7:30PM, in the EILMS Commons. Camp Invention is coming to Grandview Heights again this year and will run June 3-7 at EILMS. K-6 students will enjoy a great camp experience. Students in Grades 6-8 can register as Counselors in Training. Students in Grades 9-12 can register as Leadership Interns. Registration can be completed here.
DATA SCIENCE FOR WOMEN SUMMER CAMP 2019
The Translational Data Analytics Institute hosts a free summer camp that introduces 35 young women in grades 8-10 to data science and analytics. The camp is July 15-19 at Ohio State’s main campus. Applications are due March 29. Registration can be completed here.
GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION
The GHPL Foundation is excited to host its first author visit on May 13: Celeste Ng. Originally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, Ng is known for her books Everything I Never Told You (which will be made into a movie starring Julia Roberts) and Little Fires Everywhere (which will come to Hulu as a miniseries starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington). The New York Times recently featured Celeste Ng in an article. Ticket information is forthcoming.
HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM NIGHT
Current 8th grade parents are invited (students are welcome, but attendance is not mandatory) to GHHS Curriculum Night to hear information related to high school curriculum, graduation, and the scheduling process. It’s a particularly helpful evening for rising 9th grade families to help make important decisions related to high school course planning.

On Tuesday, January 22, we’re offering Ohio Days: My Plate, My State lunch. All of the food is local and exclusively comes from Ohio farmers and businesses. The menu will feature cheese calzones that are produced by Conagra in Troy, roasted butternut squash and Fuji apples from Mt. Vernon’s Yellowbird Food Shed, and milk from Smith’s Dairy in Reynoldsburg. A family newsletter is attached. Posters are also in the cafeteria to learn more about the food sources. Tubing at Mad River Mountain will be held Monday, January 21, 10AM-1PM. Tickets purchased through the PTO website will be given to attendees at Mad River Tubing Park. The deadline to order has been extended to Friday evening, January 18. Tickets can be purchased here.
Registration is now open for the Bobcat Bash, which can be completed here. The Bobcat Bash is open to EILMS students in Grades 4-6 and will take place Friday, January 25 from 6:15-9:15PM in the EILMS Commons. The cost is $15 and includes pizza and snacks. Due to staffing and safety concerns, this event is pre-register only. All registrations with payment must be received by Thursday, January 24. There will be no same-day registrations.
K-12 PTOs Host CBJ Game for Families – Sunday, March 3, 7PM, vs. Winnipeg Jets at Nationwide Arena. Seating is first come, first served until availability fills. Tickets are $38 upper bowl and $65 lower bowl. For every ticket purchased, the Columbus Blue Jackets will give back $10 or $20 to the PTO. Deadline to purchase is 2/15/19 at 11:59PM. Tickets can be ordered here.

January 22-27 is National Drug and Alcohol Fact Week. Each day, students will have myths clarified by facts during morning announcements. Bulletin boards will offer additional information. Students will have the opportunity to complete a quick quiz for a chance to win gift cards.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT EXPO
The Grandview Heights 4th Annual Summer Enrichment Expo will take place Thursday, February 28, 6-7:30PM, in the EILMS Gymnasium. Over 30 organizations from Thurber House to Wellington School will be present to help you plan an engaging summer for your students.
The EILMS 2018-2019 School Yearbook Sale is 1/22-2/1. Order forms will be sent home with students. A copy is also attached. Online orders can be placed here. This is the only timeframe in which to order. Yearbooks are $17 each. The order deadline is Friday, February 1.
