Next Steps for Stevenson Elementary and K12 Athletic Complex

The Grandview Heights Board of Education completed its second Board of Education work session on Thursday, November 30, 2023, to review and discuss the Stevenson Elementary Master Plan.  This plan results from three full days of planning by the Stevenson Elementary Master Planning Committee, which included teachers, stakeholders, Board members, and administration.  As part of our analysis, the Board of Education also reviewed and discussed our K12 Athletic Complex Master Plan. Our commitment to enhancing our educational and athletic facilities remains a priority, and we are making steady progress.

1. Master Planning Process for Stevenson Elementary: We are actively refining the master plan for Stevenson Elementary, focusing on efficient space utilization. The updated plans can be found on our website for community review and feedback, ensuring transparency and collaboration in our efforts.  The two options are both new builds on the footprint where Stevenson Elementary is currently located.  
2. Building Analysis: An analysis is being conducted to evaluate the benefits of different building designs for Stevenson Elementary, specifically comparing 3-story and 2-story structures. This analysis will guide our decision-making process, ensuring the best outcomes for our school community.
3. Combined Planning Efforts: To optimize resources and outcomes, we are aligning the Stevenson Elementary Master Plan with phases of the Athletic Master Plan which can be found on our website as well.
4. Maintenance and Budgeting: We are in the process of obtaining updated estimates for necessary maintenance costs at Stevenson Elementary. We will also be creating a finance committee to help us determine the scope and costs to our community for a possible levy to include Stevenson Elementary and some or all of the K12 Athletic Master plan.  
5. Community Meeting: We will host a community meeting at Stevenson Elementary to share an update on the Stevenson Elementary Master Plan on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the Stevenson Elementary Gymnasium located at 1065 Oxley Road.  This event will serve as a platform for information sharing, education, and community involvement, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and engagement.
6. Added Community Engagement: We will also hold school tours at Stevenson Elementary and Larson Middle School. Why at Larson Middle School?  When touring our newly constructed Larson Middle School, community members will see and experience the amenities that a newly constructed building can educationally offer our students.  The following tours are scheduled and will begin in the building main office:

• Stevenson Elementary: Tuesday, February 6, at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, February 7, at 1:30 p.m.
• Larson Middle School: Wednesday, February 7, at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, February 8, at 1:30 p.m.; and Friday, February 9, at 1:30 p.m.
