lot of feedback from graduate saying that they were doing fine or coarse going to have to take staff when I got to college and I want he wanted to provide at least an introduction to staff the other option is AP Statistics my favorite class song teacher College statistics course while they take anything as long as they've already taken Algebra 2 so the prerequisite is a b or higher in the teacher recommendation in Algebra 2 would you encourage students especially if you have some students who are in Algebra 2 right now that are thinking maybe they want to take pre-calc maybe want to take AP Stat if there double up for a year and take AP Stat with another class they should do it with honors pre-calc rather than AP calc we don't want to take two AP math classes in the same here so they can soon as they've gotten through out for two they can take that increased at anytime they want some soon taking AP calc as Juniors they can take it as a senior they wanted to what's the AP Calculus packaging college credit AP stats gives you college credits in the new achieve high enough on the AP statistics Exam with AP calculus college credit plus we do a dual not the one because it snow and 12th grade the high school simple because it's on the English level it's a little bit more simplistic you have two options perdre level assembly with a couple of leftovers that I'll hit on what look up a few pieces information and questions that we get all the time the first thing is this a lot of parents wonder why we don't have courses like literature or world with four composition and there's a reason for that was a reason why our levels it's Englishtown English 10 and 11 English 12 is that our courses are organized by theme and our forces are integrated which means that rather than have a year starting the British literature year volume for any given level of English is going to include a diversity of text diversity of literature and on the same level we don't separate where you can write either so you won't change the pur composition course in Keller for course we believe those to be so closely Linked In the learning process that any English course is going to writing speaking with name Etc it's nasty rumor which is that s you look from year ones here for you we have the English 9 10 11 and 12 across the board honors English 9 honors English 10 in the AP courses on the Junior and senior level I want to make it very clear those tinglish nominating 10 11 and 12 courses are by no means some sort of remedial or basic course this is something that I think sometimes can be confusing that if your son or daughter is taking English now instead play honors option that's some sort of remedial course that's not the case that's going to be a very challenging course the differences Zephyr students who feel some sort of proclivity or skill set that suits them for more of a challenge that level or students play more of an interest in that subject area and would like to be challenged and push a little further is there because this is a concern to a lot of parents we English Department offices are AP classes are no longer college credit plus classes which simply means that the way to get college credit in those courses is to take the AP test at the end of the year but even the three for a 5 on the AP Lang test as a junior or the AP Lit test is the senior should get you a most universities 3 Hours mystery our credit and another thing that parents used to be the case I don't know why every was the case but it used to be until the AP junior level class as well as the NDC level class would still only equate to one class 4 how college credit and in most schools is no longer the case which is great for your students and great for my console teachers are social studies Department it's fairly simple but can be very complex and finding out where your son or daughter is going to fall so I'll start with the simple part incoming freshman and current freshman so going to be sophomores it's fairly simple their requirements it's three years freshman years world history saw what year is American history jr. is going to be government so that's that's fairly simple I know that's the majority of you here are incoming freshman and then and also saw so that's kind of those are the basics and that's what's required on top of that we do have certain electors that are available to students moving forward we have a psychology and sociology last two different semester classes are taught by Columbus State professors that come to our school they come to a Grandview Heights High School fix those classes 3 days a week just like it would be taught on Columbus State campus the students me all five days in those two days were the Columbus Day professors there that's where I kind of bridge the gap between College expectation and high school students most of them are Juniors and seniors and and what they're used to Anna high school class pause professors expect those two days activities or helping kids get caught up on what the professor pretty rewarding not experience for the students that do take those classes too many class also that we offer the AP European History American history that can be taken if students choose not to do the regular level world history for America where to get a little bit turning transition to this government is a current current stock market returns sophomore we're going to sign up for a semester class of government next year it won't be a full class of government via semester class and that's just good for making a transition from teaching government fresh what year the teaching in junior year so if their occurrence sophomore they're going to sign up this spring for that required American government class however for just next that's only going to be a half a credit so they're also going to have to take psychology sociology or Global issues to fulfill the three shut it hours they need and social cents and again if your student is an incoming freshman or going to be a sophomore you don't have to worry about that  if there is off for now they need to take that half credit and sign up another have credits if I explain that can you ask questions I'll be here after if your if your student is is going to be a junior next year I can explain what they have to do but it just adds a little bit actually they meet need to make up that have credit because next the government's only going to be a half also not a college credit plus that's just caught in the high school level class which is an option to get another half a kind of book as we move forward some of the younger students will also have an opportunity AP Government when they're juniors if they don't if they want to go Napier out anything will be offered not next year with the year after is 2:30 you all things in our can you talk about financial call Yahoo financial literacy  aspect of it so if your child is a sophomore in there taking government next year credit government they also have to sign up for personal finance business department that's a state requirement that they have to take next I guess if your student is younger and their incoming freshmen or return freshman that financial literacy will be part of their year-long government class junior year set up episode that something you don't even have to worry about every part of that last me off this if that's not a concern is there soon it is that soft one two things government next year they also have to sign I got to know if it's a little fuzzy for those people that are that are sophomores and then moving up I'll be here afterwards and if I need to explain enough I'll be working with the students for their den schedule and I'll reiterate this with the students and we Viper Serio we've developed an online scheduling process that we work with soonest we we actually have the bility to coat the online scheduling system to prevent games from sign up for wrong place failsafe but but for the most part works out pretty good in that happened really actually helps got in the students them out about that credits to social studies in Business Without my head so they can space off for years and I'll talk about some of the benefits of taking core classes for classes are considered language arts English three students are have more options available to them and the first is biology AP biology is requires having had honors biology although in the student is biology 1 and is performing really well and once the challenge of taking a pipe AP biology they would certainly have that option but biology is preferred as well as chemistry and then a new purse were offering this next year is anatomy and physiology and so it strongly recommended that take an atomi and Physiology either prior to taking AP Bio or alongside AP Bio for chemistry we have cabbage create an honors chemistry and then also another new purse that were offering is anatomy and physiology and marine biology physiology in Marine Biology those are both also options for juniors as well as seniors both of those horses have file me an honors biology or honors biology is prerequisite  the marine biology course is more about the Marine ecology and versity of the organisms and the environment and then Anatomy physiology focuses on structure and function body five systems  and it is allowed base horse since I have a few parents of Juniors this year here they are the food stamps are currently taking bio to I would say that the first semester of bio2 is heavily marine biology and so those students may find some of the material in Marine Biology very similar to what they're currently studying in Bayou to however we will go into how far death with marine biology course and then and out of his busy almost pretty much anything so I'm just kind of keep that in mind finally free fourth you have AP Chemistry physics physics requires precalculus and also cash and I wanted to stress that the prerequisite for physics the precalculus prerequisite that Define abstinence completed precalculus before actually taking physics rather than side-by-side it just helps a lot with the math portion of the fizz class  pretty much chemistry just do this I know chemistry is no longer offered as dual enrollment or college credit plus
